NZPA-AAP Melbourne The Wingatui trainer, Hector Anderton jun., saddled a winner with his first runner in Australia when Owhata Son won the Ready Cut Steeplechase at Flemington on Saturday. Anderton took Owhata Son, Noble River and Yukon River to Melbourne on April 18. Owhata Son led for the last 1000 m of the 3200 event and won by two lengths in the hands of Nick Harnett, the former Wingatui jockey now settled in Melbourne. Noble River began his Australian campaign on Saturday, finishing fast for sixth in a straight 1200 m event in a field of 22. Noble River was ridden by Pat Hyland. Noble River has not settled as well as his stablemates. He is due to race over 1600 m this Saturday. Yukon River has developed shin soreness and his racing programme is uncertain. He is not being helped by hard tracks.
