Zaman’s squash title

NZPA-Reuter Hong Kong The world ranked No. 2, Qamar Zaman, of Pakistan, overcame a former British champion, Gawain Briars, 94, 10-8, 9-3, in the final of the Hong Kong international squash tournament yesterday. The victory took 47 minutes and the final was an object lesson in the

game’s subtleties as both Zaman and his younger rival traded delicate drop shots and tantalising lobs. In the end, Zaman, who recovered from 3-7 in the second game, proved the master. In a play-off for third, Maqsood Ahmed (Pakistan) beat Ross Norman (New Zealand), 5-9, 9-4, 9-4, 5-9, 94.
