Big fall in Hutt jobs
PA Wellington Lower Hutt, a city of about 63,000 people, lost 3209 jobs in the three years to the end of February last year, according to a report on local economic development just released by the Lower Hutt City Council. It says that there has been a general restructuring in the city’s employment during the last three years, with the most notable feature being a decline in manufacturing jobs. The number of full-time manufacturing jobs fell by 2329 during the three years.
