BRENT HUTCHISON’S 30 points for the Belfast senior rugby team on Saturday may not be matched for some time, but a season or two of even less spectacular successes could allow him to set a new Belfast aggregate record. This is held by David Stead, with 496 points. Stead, one of Canterbury’s most accomplished cricketers, has long since left the rugby scene, but last summer he continued his cricket with success for Riccarton. There he advanced his aggregate to 7292, and is now second in the club records only to Alby Roberts, who scored 10,263. Stead, with 337 wickets, is sixth for the club and his 139 senior catches has set a record. Another who is now among Riccarton’s best is Peter Stabbings, with a career record of 6642 runs. He needs only another 110 runs to beat Graham Barrett for fourth |
