South African wine
Sir,—Could Bert Walker enlarge on some of his facts (May 4)? The wine company employs 5000 black Africans. Do they all return to wives and families each night or are they housed in hostels? The average wage, he tells us, is R 7200. Could Mr Walker survive and support a family on that? The only fact worth remembering is that by law the black people of South Africa are second class and that is evil.—Yours, etc., LORRAINE STANTON May 4, 1984.
