Drivers second, third
NZPA-AAP Brisbane The Tasmanian driver, Barry Rattray, clinched a win in the Australia and New Zealand junior trotting drivers’ series after the final events in the series at the Albion Park Raceway and Rocklea in Brisbane at the week-end. The New Zealand national champion, David Butt, of Canterbury, finished second after going to a shortlived lead in the series with his win on
Flintlock at Albion Park. However, Rattray persevered and won later in the night on My Melody Queen to take out the title.
Butt’s cousin, Anthony Butt, also of Canterbury, suffered a setback when he was thrown from the sulky at Rocklea in the afternoon but drove in later races. He finished third in the series followed by a fellow New Zealander, David Butcher.
