Canty table tennis
Grant McCarroll (Riccarton) and Jackie Cotter (North-West) won the Under 21 singles titles at the Canterbury junior table tennis tournament, held at the Canterbury association’s hall in Selwyn Street yesterday. McCarroll backed up the Under 21 success by also winning the Under 17 boys singles crown.
Results.— Under 21.—Boys singles: G. McCarroll (Riccarton) beat M. Lockhart (Riccarton), 20-22, 2112, 21-12. Doubles: S. and M. Lockhart (Riccarton) beat McCarroll and J. G. Armstrong (Riccarton), 21-12, 21-14. Girls singles: J. Cotter (North-West) beat K. Hines (Linwood), 21-11, 21-9. Doubles: J. Gray and J. Harper (Avonside) beat Cotter and J. Rooney (Riccarton), 2116, 21-23, 21-19.
Under 17—Boys singles: McCarroll beat M. Lockhart, 21-19, 21-19. Doubles: K. and M. Bresnahan (Timaru) beat M.
and B. Lockhart (Riccarton), 23-21, 21-23, 21-14. Girls singles: Gray beat M. Goldie (Westport), 23-21, 22-24, 24-22. Doubles: Gray and Harper beat Goldie and J. Fisher (Avonside), 21-18, 21-16. Under 14.—Boys singles: M. Brosnahan beat K. Bresnahan, 21-13, 21-19. Doubles: K. and M. Brosnahan beat B. Lockhart and D. Gray (Avonside), 21-8, 21-12.
