Ski tow-rope taken

A tow-rope belonging to the Christchurch Ski Club was taken from the club’s Temple Basin car-park last week.

The club’s president, Mr Jan Kitson, said the rope, valued about $2500, had been taken on either Thursday or Friday night. It was left in the car-park to be lifted on to the ski slope by helicopter once the weather cleared. The rope was

noticed missing on Saturday morning.

The club would probably have to replace the rope so that its three tows would be running when the season started about July, Mr Kitson said.

It was a big loss to the club, he said. The missing rope had been reported to the police but if it was returned there would be no questions asked.
