European routes changed

A new direct shipping service to Europe is part of changes announced by a group of companies. The Anzecs lines (Overseas Containers, Ltd, Seabridge New Zealand, Ltd, and the Shipping Corporation of New Zealand, Ltd) and A.C.T.A.A.N.L. described the changes as significant. A new weekly north-Euro-pean service will cover the United Kingdom and the north continent. All north-bound cargo to the United Kingdom and northern'continental ports will be carried direct from New Zealand. South-bound cargo to New Zealand will omit Mediterranean ports to provide faster transit times. A separate fortnightly Mediterranean service will cover the existing ports serviced in the area, with the addition of a direct call to Barcelona. A spokesman for the lines said that the new services reflected changing trade patterns and shipping requirements by providing a more frequent and regular service. The new services will begin later this month. ARRIVALS Saturday Silver Leader (6.24 a.m.), 17,060, Wellington (S.C.N.Z.). Union Sydney (7.01 a.m.), 9330, Wellington (U.M.S.).
