Rally first round
PA Wellington The first North Island ■round of the CRC New Zealand Rally championship will be held in Tokoroa this week-end. The rally, promoted by the Tokoroa Car Club, covers 400 km overnight and tomorrow, and includes 14 special stages. -The No. 1 •seed is the current New Zealand rally champion, Malcolm Stewart of Dannevirke, driving his Escort RS180& The Aucklanders, Reg Cook and Tony Teesdale, are expected to pres-
sure him. One South Island round of the championship has been run at Gore. It was won by the South Island driver Inky Tulloch, from Mataura, driving an Escort RSIBOO. The next round is next week-end in Christchurch, promoted by the Autosport Club, and will be the second round for South Island ■ Drivers. The first event when both North and South drivers meet will be in the North Auckland area in early September.
