Hospital bedding

Sir, — May the Canterbury and New Zealand people rebel against the decision of the Canterbury Hospital Board to import imitation sheepskin bed rugs. What loyalty to one of the renowned wool countries of the world. No wonder the overseas debt keeps mounting. I have two hospital votes — town and country — and will request the members I have voted in to state their stand. We have farmers in dire straits and plenty of people out of work, and it is tragic to even think of a hospital board, of all people, not considering this. The money sent overseas does not feed or clothe our families. Does the board know that our sheepskins would be fire proof and not burn, whereas these overseas ones could be a fire danger? Wake up farmers and unite on this. — Yours, etc., C. WILLIAMS. May 3, 1984.
