Work wanted

Employers answering the “work wanted” advertisements in “The Press” often find they are too late, according to the co-ordina-tor of the Canterbury Resource Centre, Mr Terry HUI. The free advertisements printed on Wednesdays had been very successful, but fewer people were taking advantage of the column, Mr Hill said. When the column was first printed in December the number of advertise-

meats had been limited to 200. Fewer than 50 were now being placed each week. Twenty per cent of people who had advertised for work had found jobs within three weeks, and most had had at least one interview, he said.

Genuinely unemployed people can place advertisements in the column by getting in touch with the Resource Centre, 81 Cambridge Terrace, Christchurch.
