Kiwi out for spell
PA New Plymouth The Waverley stayer, Kiwi, is out for a spell. The six-year-old Blarney Kiss gelding’s ownertrainer, Snow Lupton, said yesterday the horse was being spelled till mid-June. The winner of last year’s Melbourne Cup was turned out after his run in last month’s Hawke’s Bay Cup, in which he finished seventh. “He never really struck top form this time up,” Mr Lupton said. “He contracted a bad virus on Christmas Day and would not clean himself up. After that, he wasn’t his usual self.”
