Accordionist

wins contest For his medley of Strauss waltzes and sabre dances, Stuart Bougen, of Christchurch, won the New Zealand Federation of Accordionists’ special award trophy at the South Island Society of Accordionists’ ninth championships at the Christchurch South Intermediate School yesterday. Bougen won the champion of champions prize with his splendid performances in the senior virtuoso class for competitors aged 18 and over. About 60 accordionists competed in the contests, which were judged by Messrs Tom Camp and Noel Taylor.
