Satellite to be replaced
NZPA-Reuter Jakarta Indonesia will buy a new telecommunications satellite from Hughes Corporation. of the United States, to replace one lost after launching by the space shuttle Challenger in February, says the Telecommunications Minister, Mr Achmad Tahir. He said the new satellite would be placed in orbit over Indonesia in March.
1986. A Ministry spokesman said technical negotiations were still under way between the Government and the Indonesian company which co-ordinated the $75 million reinsurance for the satellite. But he said no problems were expected with the insurance. Indonesia woulc use the money to pay foi the new satellite.
