Cashmere prices

Dawsons International oi Scotland, the world’s largest cashmere processor, has recently announced its price schedule for 1984. The prices listed are for the cashmere component, not for the total fleece. For fibre with a mean diameter of 15.9 microns the prices are $l5l per kg for white, $B9 for light grey and $6l for brown. For fibre of 16 to 16.9 microns in diameter, $137 per kg for white, $B9 for light grey and

$6l for brown. For 17 to 17.9 micron fibre; $l3O for white, $B9 for light grey and $6l for brown. For 18 to 18.9 micron; $lO3 for white, $75 for light grey and $4B for brown. The new price schedule gives New Zealand producers clear indications of market requirements. The over-all effects are an 11 per cent increase in prices for white cashmere but the coloured grades have been basically just simplified with little change in price.
