Dog shot for sheep worrying

A dog found chasing sheep on a Papanui property yesterday morning was shot dead by the police. At least three of the 50 sheep in the paddock in Grassmere Street had been attacked, said a spokesman for the Papanui police. The police went to the paddock about 8 a.m. after a resident complained that two dogs were chasing sheep. A constable shot one dog, a mongrel, but the other, an Alsatian, fled.
