Junior s’ top seeds tumble

Both the top-seeded boy and girl players in the 18years division of the Coca Cola Easter junior tennis tournament were beaten in the semi-finals at Wilding Park yesterday. Vicki Ratana, ranked No. 1 in the girls’ singles, lost in three sets to Rachel Wilson, who was the reserve for this year’s successful Canterbury Nunneley Casket team.

In the boys’ singles, Gregory Young, the top seed, was eliminated by Hamish' Faulls, who sub-

sequently went down to the No. 2 player, John Honeywell, in a hard-fought final.

Nobody was surprised when Ann Culhane and Amanda Trail won the 14years girls’ doubles; they breezed through the field and dropped only three games in the final. The two Michaels, Bewley and Smith, won the boys’ title
