New car sales rise
PA Wellington New car sales rose again last month, with 8983 registered compared with 6952 in January and 7978 in February.
March sales, shown in Post Office figures, are not as high as those in March. 1983, when 9970 new cars were sold in a buying spree to beat price rises caused by New Zealand's devaluation and other currency changes.
But sales for the first three months of 1984, totalling 23,913, were 9 per cent higher than those in the first quarter of 1983.
