Double standard for fans
There seems to be a double standard when it comes to crowd control at the national stadium. The security people have a strict no flags or banners rule and normally will not allow anything into the stadium which they feel may cause a disturbance. All bottles and cans are strictly prohibited from being brought into the ground Sr sold
there. On the first night the officers relented and allowed the Kuwait and Bahrain supporters to take in their drums, although they did attempt to restrict such instruments to four for each country. Many more were taken in. On the next night when the small New Zealand supporters’ party arrived at the gates they were relieved of
their small flags and were told they were not allowed to use their black and white scarves as banners. The situation became tense. Eventually the officials relented and the small New Zealand flags, all lost in the sea of Saudi support, were waved although there was little for the contingent to get enthusiastic about.
