Cathedral or Town Hall

Sir,—The Town Hall is eminently suited to the function of consecration of the coadjutor Bishop. The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament no longer looks like a Catholic Cathedral and its services bear no resemblance to those of the Catholic Church of the centuries. Provision for kneeling — a feature of Catholic Churches — has been removed, so why not have

more comfortable seats, as in the Town Hall? Actually, if they remove the chairs and spread a few oriental or Persian carpets on the floor they can sell it as a mosque to our Iranian trade partners. Alternatively, it would make a rather nice Masonic Temple, its columns being reminiscent of Solomon’s. — Yours, etc. V. H. ANDERSON. April 13, 1984.
