Wellington beats Taranaki
Wellington retained the Rugby League Cup by beating Taranaki, 30-12, after leading only 8-6 midway through the match in Wellington on Saturday. For Wellington Steve Baker (two), Mike Kuiti, Paul Te Ariki, Gerard Katene and George Lajpold scored tries and Gary Campbell kicked three goals.
Barry Harvey and Willie Tangira scored Taranaki’s tries and Henry Robinson kicked two goals. In the curtain-raiser Wellington E beat Eastern Districts, 34-21. The Central Districts team to meet Auckland at Wellington on Anzae Day is (players
