Canty hockey appointments
Two former New Zealand representatives have been appointed to manage the Canterbury A and B hockey teams this season. At a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association on Monday, Mr lan Smith was appointed manager of the Canterbury A team for the season. A former New Zealand captain, Mr Alan Patterson,
was appointed manager of the B team. The appointments are a departure from policy for the C.H.A. For many years the managers have been appointed from the management committee ranks. Two other managers were appointed. Mr Graham Daly will manage the Canterbury colts and Mr J. Grocott the senior reserve team. A Sydenham senior
player, Doug Williamson, who received a permanent suspension in the match against Selwyn last Saturday, received no further penalty from the judicial committee.
He will have two temporary suspensions recorded against his name. If he receives a third this season he will be automatically suspended for one playing day.
