Toddler dies
A child, aged two, drowned in a private swimming pool at Rolleston yesterday morning. The young boy wandered from his parents’ property and fell into a neighbour’s swimming pool, said a St John Ambulance spokesman. The neighbour found the boy and called the ambulance. He was partly resuscitated, and was taken to Christchurch Hospital, where he later died. The police have withheld the child’s name until relatives have been notified.
