Youth knifed
A youth is in Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing incident in Worcester Street last evening. The youth, aged 18, and three others were in a “scuffle” with another group of youths when he was stabbed about 10.30 p.m., a police spokesman said. The injured youth walked from the Cinerama Theatre, Worcester Street, to the corner of Cashel Street and
Colombo Street, from where a taxi-driver alerted the police. A cordon was put on the area while the police sought witnesses. Inquiries into the incident were still being made early this morning. The youth was admitted to hospital with surface cuts to the stomach and a stab wound to the breast bone. He was in the intensivecare unit and his condition given as seriously ill.
