Quick export decision wanted

PA Auckland An electronics and textiles exporter, Autex Industries, says it has urged the Government to make a quick decision in respect to export incentives. Mr Terry Wood, finance director of Autex, said yesterday that the delay was of great concern to exporters. The present incentives on exports to the United States are due to be phased out by March, 1985, and, under the C.E.R. agreement, export incentives must cease for Tasman trade by 1987.

Mr Wood said that Autex Industries, which had expanded its exports to Australia and the United States, was becoming increasingly concerned about the delay in announcing whether there would be a replacement scheme, and if so, what the new arrangements would be.

He said it was essential for any export business to be able to plan years ahead if it was to keep a rein on costs, set profit margins accurately, and plot marketing strategies.
