Scots actor watched by the Queen
NZPA London Fulton Mackay, aged 61, who played the stiff-necked prison warden in the television comedy series, “Porridge,” has received the 0.8. E. from the Queen during an investiture at Buckingham Palace. The Queen revealed that she had closely followed the career of the quietly spoken Scots actor. She told Mr Mackay, who plays the only human part in “Fraggle Rock,” a new series from the creators of the Muppets, “I see you are very different these days.” Afterwards Mackay, who has spent 37 years in show business and is also well known in Scotland as a playwright, said, “It is a very proud day for me. I still have no idea why I was given this honour. I am just rather amazed.” Mr Mackay was accompanied by his wife, the actress, Sheila Manati.
