Exchange students off soon
Six Canterbury students will leave this month for a year in Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia, on American Field Service exchanges.
Shaun Conroy, Timaru, and Jeff Peters, Burnside, will leave on Monday for Japan. The former will stay in Kawaguchi with the Mayajima family and the latter with the Nishikawa family in Toyama.
On March 23 Naomi O’Connor, Sumner, and Phillip Smith, Winchmore will leave for Thailand. Four days later Natalie Howard and Rowena Patterson, both of Christchurch, will leave for Malaysia. They have not yet been given their destinations.
Three New Zealand students who will return soon from a year’s exchange in Japan, Thailand, and Australia will be welcomed back at a meeting of the .service in Christchurch on April 1. To publicise it and the opportunities for travel and study provided, the service will hold an information evening on March 20 at Christchurch Girls’ High School. The evening is for those interested in going on an exchange or hosting one.
