Creditable skating by Roger Hawkins
The young Rollerdrome skater, Roger Hawkins, finished a creditable eighth over all behind five Australians and two New Zealand senior skaters in the A grade section of the international roller skating tour of Dunedin. Hawkins, aged 14, is the present New Zealand junior noys’ champion and is regarded as one of the country’s brightest prospects. Almost 90 skaters competed in the tour, which was over seven stages, and was held on different roads and tracks in Dunedin.
