Note causes confusion
New Zealand retailers had experienced confusion with the $5O note’s being similar in colour to the $5 note, Mr J. Q. Goldingham told the Retailers’ Federation conference in Ashburton this week. He said there had been confusion both with staff and customers and he successfully moved that the Government be asked to reissue the note in a more suitable colour.
Wellington retailers had not received a sympathetic hearing from the Reserve Bank when they made an approach on the subject, he said. They believed there were about one million $5O notes in circulation.
