NZPA staff correspondent Washington

The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, met businessmen and civic leaders in Los Angeles yesterday. His first stop was a reception hosted by Emmett McGaughey, an old friend and president of the international advertising agency,

Dailey and Associates, which holds the tourist office and Air New Zealand accounts.

Sir Robert went on from there to a dinner held by the Consul-General, Mr Peter Heenan, and the dean of the Graduate School of

Management of the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr Clay la Force. Chairmen and presidents of

big Californian businesses, including banks, were invited.

Discussion included trade

between New Zealand and California and Sir Robert’s initiative for reform of the world’s trade and payments system.

Today Sir Robert will fly to Honolulu for talks with Pacific military commanders.
