Murder trial in Blenheim
PA Blenheim One accused named a fellow accused as the person who had shot a Mongrel Mob leader, John Michael Little, on August 26, a former police constable said in the High Court at Blenheim, yesterday. James O’Leary was giving evidence for the Crown at the trial of Reihana Chase, aged 29, a carpenter, Shane Shannon Hamilton, aged 2A a sickness beneficiary,*wd James Kehu
Wehi, aged 26, a contractors, all of whom have denied charges of murder. Chase and Wehi have also denied alternative charges of being an accessory after the fact. Mr O’Leary said that Chase told him he wanted to speak to his lawyer and did not want to make a statement However, a “fairly prolonged interview” followed during which Chase said Hamilton Qad fired the shot which killed
Mr Little. Later Chase said the admission had “just slipped out” He was scared for his life and did not want anybody to find out he had said it Cross-examined by Mr G. R. Lascelles, counsel for Chase, Mr O’Leary said that he had advised the officer in charge of the investigation of Chase’s request to speak to his solicitor. He had no idea of the result of the request.
