Agrinion for Auckland

By

JEFF SCOTT

The West Melton trainer, Robin Butt, is likely to campaign Agrinion, Lady El and Robin’s Star at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting, which starts on March 10. Butt will also continue his association with the fine Ashburton-trained three-year-old, Kanturk, which will be tilting at the $lOO,OOO Max Harvey Great Northern Derby to be run on the third night, on March 17. Butt, who is enjoying a successful season, is also considering starting the smart mare, Lady El, an easy winner in Imin 58.4 s for the mile at Addington on February 18, in the $12,250 Te Awamutu Highland Mist Cup over a mile at the Te Awamutu meeting on Friday, March 23. The Prebbleton-trained four-year-old,. Rameses, off the scene since racing at the New Zealand Cup carnival last November, has been given time off to mature by his trainer, Sam Ballantyne, and is unlikely to race again until the National meeting at Addington in August. The Noodlum gelding, a half-brother to Graikos (Imin 56.65) and to Eastwood Glerifern, the dam of Nardin’s Castle, a good winner here last season before being sold to Australian interests, scored his fourth win in a short career when he won the Hit Radio 3ZM Stakes at Addington on cup day, pacing the mobile 2600 m in 3min 20s.
