The first of seven hourlong 8.8. C. programmes about the life and music of Jim Reeves as told by those who knew him and worked with him can be heard on the radio National programme at 7.30 tonight. During the 1950 s and > early 60s Jim Reeves became an artist with an international reputation, his warm, easy-going style and smooth-toned voice producing a series of hits ranging from early country-style
successes to pop-country million sellers. In these programmes, narrated by the country singer, Charley Pride, Jim Reeves’s career unfolds in detail. Friends, musicians, record producers, business associates and his wife, Mary, all contribute recollections of the man from the early days when he might have become a professional baseball player right through to the day in July, 1965, when he was killed in a plane crash.
