Australian exports reached a record ?Aust22 billion in 198283, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The total was a significant jump over the previous year (?19,575M), and included merchandise exports worth $21,395M.
The bureau figures show total exports worth $2053M for December last year, slightly below the previous month’s total of $2104M but higher than the previous December total of SIBIBM. Japan continued to dominate as Australia’s major trading partner, receiving exports worth $587.2M in December, well ahead of the European Economic community ($258.9M) and the United States ($204.4M).
