Addington market Prices steady for two-tooths
Two-tooth ewe prices generally remained steady at a special sale at the Addington market yesterday. Buyer interest dwindled at the tail-end of both the strong and fine wool sections, a result of slightly bigger yardings than last week’s market.
Many farmers were obviously unwilling to pay too high
a price for stock and this resulted in medium quality two-tooths in the $25 to $3O price bracket meeting the strongest demand.
The fine wool offering contained a good selection of Corriedales, the best making between $33 and $35. Many good Corriedales sold at $2B to $3O and small two-tooths in reasonable order sold down to
about $22, which was a slight reduction on last week’s values. Top Halfbreds made to $3O. The strong wool sale tended to be erratic with several pens making over $34, but others failing to meet the reserve price.
The highlight was a pen of outstanding heavy Romneys from H. I. and M. E. Robinson.
of Woodend, which sold at $44.20. Other good strong wool sales were between $33 and $36 with many medium sheep making from $2B to $32. The yarding included several pens of good quality Border cross twotooths.
The yardings were 7918 fine wool two-tooths (6133 last week) and 4862 strong wools (3040). The total yarding at last year’s corresponding sale was 12,355. Sales included:—
