Karting series
Driver from Nelson, Blenheim and Dunedin, as well as Christchurch, will take to the Carrs Road raceway at Halswell tomorrow in the first of three rounds for the Christchurch Kart Club’s annual series worth $lOOO. There will be five races at each meeting, and drivers will drop their two worst performances from their totals. The Christchurch Kart Club is expecting 70 entries over the four classes — midgets, lOOcc junior, 125 cc gearbox and lOOcc senior stock Yamaha. The winners will also become the club
champions. In the senior, section, the top Christchurch driver, Murray Davies, will be truly tested if Michael Wallace, of Dunedin, and Roger Middlebrook (Nelson) attend. About 25 entries are expected, and two other Christchurch competitors, Robin Heron and Keith Hooper, are also in with a good show.
Paul Crichton and Graham Stevens should have too much experience for their rivals in the 125 cc class, while Bryce Coulbeck is the one to watch in the midget section for drivers aged six to 12 years.
