St James Walk
A guide to the St James Walkway near the Lewis Pass has been added to the series of Shell guides to New Zealand walking tracks. The book is attractively produced, well illustrated, and includes a brief history of the area as well as general information about access and conditions, and a detailed map and route guide. The book, by Philip Temple, is published by Whitcoulls (40 pp, $3.75). It is small enough, and light enough, to make a sensible addition to a tramper’s kit. “St James” is the eighth title in the series. The booklet on “The Hollyford Track” has been reissued in more colourful format and with up-to-date information (36 pp, $3.75).
