The 9832-ton United States naval supply vessel Southern Cross, at Lyttelton. The ship, which brought machinery, equipment and about 200 civilian and navy staff from McMurdo Station, was to return to the ice today, but has been delayed by a small electrical fire which occurred in the engines room on Tuesday evening. The damage will be repaired by the end of this week.
