S.A.S. guard on Queen
Security for the Queen ' and Prince Philip’s visit to ' Jordan next month have been stepped up amid fears that the couple could be assassination targets. The i five-day trip to Jordan is : considered one of the most dangerous the Queen has undertaken during her 32year reign and has led to a ; unique protection plan. Men of the Special Air Service i regiment have been called on to guard the Royal party after the Queen said that 1 she would make the visit on March 26. The S.A.S. men will shadow the Queen and will work independently of the Queen’s three Scotland Yard bodyguards and Jordanian security men. The security fears come from worries about the extremist Palestinian splinter group headed by Abu Nidal. — London.
