Tapes sought by Radio U

For those who only peruse the newspaper on Thursdays, Radio U, the Canterbury University’s students’ radio station, bounces back on air from next Monday, this time for six months. The station will be retaining its format from last year, with regular evening features of special music, plus on Sundays “Radio With Pictures.”

The station will initially run for eight weeks with a programme of music from 7 a.m. until midnight, Monday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. until midnight on the weekends. For the next nine weeks it will run from 4 p.m. until

midnight, Monday until Friday, but keep the 9 a.m. to midnight format in the week-ends. After the second nine weeks are up, it will revert back to its original format.

The station, on a frequency of 1422 kHz, will go off the air on August 12. Once again Radio U is on the hunt for tapes from bands to play on its shows, and this year is considering running a special programme devoted to music from bands yet to be released on record. Bands who want to submit tapes can send them to Radio U, Canterbury University Students’ Association, Private Bag, Christchurch.
