Banners raised
The first of he 100 handpainted banners advertising the Christchurch Festival are hoisted into place at the Arts Centre yesterday. Up the ladder is the festival’s assistant events
manager, Mr Arthur Chung, and advising him is Mr Steven Carpinter, the production manager. The banners, painted by the Bone Dry Collective, a team of six artists employed on a Labour Department work scheme, will be' hung from buildings, lamp-
posts, and other structures throughout Christchurch.
The artists have been working on the banners since December, when they painted for two weeks without pay in order to have them ready for the festival, which will begin on February 25.
