Singer new player in love match
NZPA-AAP London A former pop star, Adam Faith, is the man behind the marriage break-up of Chris Evert-Lloyd and her husband, John, says “The Sun” newspaper. A tennis fashion designer, Teddy Tinling, who designed the former Wimbledon champion’s wedding dress, was quoted in the paper as saying that “Chris and Adam are infatuated with each other.” “I’m afraid poor John is out of the game,” he said. Mr Tinling said that Faith, who is 43, had been secretly dating Mrs EvertLloyd, aged 28, for more than a year. The couple were believed to be living together at her home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, “The Sun” said. Lloyd, who married Miss Evert in 1979, is in America preparing for a tournament at Memphis, Tennessee, next week-end. The couple shook the tennis world at the week-end when they announced that they bad Started a trial separation in
a bid to save their marriage. “The Sun” quoted Mr Tinling as saying: “Their life together is now over.” The relationship between Mrs Evert-Lloyd and Faith had been an open secret. “John and all tbeir friends knew about it. The split has come as no great surprise.” Mr Tinling said the
irony was that Lloyd had introduced his wife to Faith. The former pop idol flew to America last week, leaving his wife, Jackie, and 13-year-old daughter, Katya, behind, “The Sun” said. Faith, whose hits in the sixties were, “What Do You Want,” and “Poor Me,” became a millionaire through his show business agency and property dealings.
