Band’s truck in crash
PA Auckland A summer tour by the Auckland rock band, the Pink Flamingoes, ended on a sour note yesterday when the band’s road crew truck smashed into a pole and rolled over on the southern motorway out of Auckland. The crash is the latest in a series of incidents on the band’s North Island tour. On New Year’s Eve hundreds of drunken gatecrashers stormed the Mount Maunganui Soundshell as the Pink Flamingoes played on the stage, and last week a youth was stabbed to death during their concert at Miranda Springs.
The road crew’s driver was taken to Middlemore Hospital. He was believed to be not badly hurt.
