Damage to road
Sir,—The photograph on page 18 of your newspaper of January 25 purporting to show man’s impact on natural surroundings is a deception. The scene is in the Westland National Park and shows damage caused by a 100-year flood in the Waiho River. The glacier access road was destroyed for many chains. People are shown standing on the road which previously continued into the foreground. Man played no part and had no impact.—Yours, etc., RON FERGUSON, Greymouth. January 27, 1984.
