Alleged rapist arrested
PA Hamilton A Hamilton man, aged 21, was arrested yesterday and charged over the alleged abduction and rape of two Hamilton women on Thursday.
Detective Sergeant John Gott said that detectives were still working on the list of charges the man would face.
The man was expected to appear in the District Court at Hamilton today. Earlier yesterday the police, were compiling a detailed description of the man for release to the news
media. However, minutes before details of his identity and a description of his car were to be released, a police patrol found him. He was interviewed by detectives, then arrested. A large team of detectives worked on the case through the week-end. The two women, aged 25 and 36, were allegedly abducted outside the Glenview supermarket and taken to an isolated Pirongia paddock, where they were allegedly raped and indecently assaulted.
