Pupil scores highly
PA Auckland An Auckland Grammar School pupil has scored 497 marks out of a possible 500 in the School Certificate examintion. David Thompson, aged 15, said yesterday his marks were: English 98, Latin 99, History 100, French 100, German 100. His fifth form class also sat University
Entrance mathematics. David, who is top of the fifth form at his school, said marks were often the result of the type of questions asked, the way a paper was marked, and a person being “best on the day.” He described examinations as “a matter of chance.”
