Gossip to race at Riccarton
From
J. J. BOYLE
Gossip, an attractive winner of the Kaitoke Handicap at Trentham yesterday, is to be prepared for the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Breeders’ Stakes at Riccarton next month. She is now the winner of her last three races for Messrs Graham Lambert and Ross Meads who paid 535,000 for her as a yearling.
The four-year-old daughter of Moss Trooper and the successful performer, Idle Torque, is trained at Woodville by Scott Hammersley, who believes the four-year-
old has a bright future as a stayer. Gossip was racing over 2000 metres yesterday, and her time of 2min 2.06 s was clear evidence of real ability. She was ridden by David Walsh, who brought her forward on a well timed run to win by close to a length from the favourite, Bess.
Mai Horse, another of the popular fancies after a third on the first day of the meeting and a win the time before, continued his efficient work rate by battling into third.
