Runabout explodes
An explosion on board a 3m runabout forced six people to abandon the vessel and swim for shore near the Scarborough boat ramp yesterday. No-one was hurt in the incident which happened about 8.30 a.m. The boat was destroyed by a fire after the unexplained explosion. It was about 30m off the ramp when it burst into flames. The Fire Service was called to put out the fire before the boat was pulled alongside the jetty.
