NOON FORECAST

General forecast: A cold front should move over the South Island and onto the south of the North Island. Showers in the west and far south of the South Island should spread to the south-west of the North Island by evening. Mainly dry in the east.

District forecasts: Canterbury: Showers about the Alps but mainly fine elsewhere; fresh westerlies inland spreading to the coast at times. Marlborough: North-wester-lies becoming strong in exposed places; mainly fine but showers developing in the western ranges

and about the Sounds in the afternoon.

Nelson: Showers in the western ranges briefly spreading elsewhere in the afternoon; westerlies fresh in exposed places. Buller, Westland: Periods of rain; north-westerlies fresh at times; cool.

Tomorrow: Fine in Canterbury, Marlborough and Nelson apart from showers in the western ranges; westerlies and showers in Buller and Westland.

Buller: Rain spreading north during the morning; northerlies freshening; a change to cooler showery westerlies later.
